Cholinergic urticaria is a type of skin allergy. It is also called as hives or nettle rash. The main reason for this disorder is allergy such as to pets, insects, medicines, environmental triggers and some type of foods. Stress can be another cause. The type of skin rash that is associated with this skin disorder contains round bumps which are red in color. The skin rash is normally itchy and causes irritation. The skin rashes are normally caused by histamine which is released in the skin. This causes the blood vessels to leak fluid which results in irritation.
If you scratch the rash because of irritation it will worsen the situation and prolong the pain. When it comes to soothing the skin and reducing the itching sensation you can use calamine lotion or specific moisturizing creams. Other treatment options that are available to treat these skin rashes are anti-histamines which should either be taken orally or be applied topically. Some of these are Paeonia and Forsythia extracts. These are found in some of the dietary supplements. Some of the lotions which contain green tea also contain anti-histamine properties.
Cholinergic urticaria is caused by sweating and sometimes the heating of the body due to heavy exercises can worsen things. The size of these hives ranges between 2 mm to 4 mm. These hives are mostly seen on the upper torso and on the arms. This skin disorder develops if the body temperature is increased in connection to allergic reactions and stress. Some people even experience headaches, breathlessness, abdominal cramps and also light-headedness. If you're suffering with cholinergic urticaria then the first thing you need to remember is to reduce the body temperature or cool it. You can relax in an area which is cool, take a cool shower and drink lots of water. It can also get triggered by situations creating nervousness, high temperatures and exposure to harsh sunlight Make sure that you hydrate your body in order to cool the temperature. After taking care of the body temperature make sure that you identify the main cause and reason for this allergy. Avoid scratchy clothing that can worsen the skin irritations.
